Frequently Asked Questions

Bookings

What happens if I cancel my booking?
For direct bookings, we require a non-refundable £50 deposit (per stay, not per night) to secure your chosen dates. We’re happy to put this deposit towards another date if you need to cancel your existing booking.

Can I swap my dates?
We’ll do everything we can to accommodate your change of dates, but please give us as much notice as possible.

In/around the hut

What channels are included on the television?
The wall-mounted flatscreen includes all the terrestrial channels.

Is there a fire pit?
Yes. You can bring your own firewood or we can supply bags at £4.00 each. Please bring cash for the firewood and/or charcoal.

Is there a BBQ?
Yes. It’s small and portable. We can provide bags of charcoal.

The site

How close is the nearest house?
We are your neighbours and our farmhouse is 200ft away. As the crow flies, the next nearest house is half a mile away.

What is access like?
Access is really easy – straight up our main farm lane. The road is uneven in places, but it's no problem for small vehicles or even push bikes.

Where do visitors park?
There is parking outside the hut for two or three cars, however, if you'd prefer to park separately from the hut so you have more space, there is private parking thirty seconds away.

Camping

Can we pitch a tent on the grass by the hut?
Yes, but please let us know in advance so we can prepare the area for you.

Can we bring a camper van?
Yes, but please let us know in advance.

Nearby

Where is the nearest pub?
The nearest pubs that we’d suggest are The Queen's Head in Eye, The Oaksmere in Brome and The White Horse Inn in Stoke Ash.

Are there any restaurants nearby?
The Walnut Tree is a fantastic vegetarian restaurant. The White Horse Inn is a hugely popular pub with good portions, The Auberge is more pricey but well worth it for a special occasion and the Oaksmere is an upmarket hotel, again with a cracking menu. All four are within 15 minutes.

Is the area good for walking?
The area is amazing for walking and cycling. We have a footpath which crosses the farm right in front of the hut. We’d be glad to recommend some circular walks. As for cycling, Suffolk is a gem. Mostly flat lanes, low hedgerows (great for views, not so good for crosswinds!), far reaching fields and plenty of pubs and cafés. Whether you’re a casual cyclist or a Strava fanatic, definitely bring your bikes!

Where is the nearest supermarket?
We have three East of England Co-ops within 12 minutes of the hut. There are two in Eye and one in Debenham. Larger supermarkets include Morrisons, Tesco and Aldi in Diss (20 mins). There are also various road side places to pick up fresh fruit, veg and eggs.

Where is the nearest cashpoint?
Barclays Bank, Broad St, Eye, IP23 7AD (9 mins)
Please note – the bank is permanently closed, but the cash point is still in use.
